To be humble is to be with everyone, to disregard rank, file, or circumstance and to be part of the group. To be teachable is to be vulnerable, to be available for input from everyone. This includes your peers and your subordinates.

This past Tuesday, I sat on a bench at the 9/11 museum in lower Manhattan. This was not my first visit since those ghastly attacks 17 years ago but my first one on an anniversary.
I felt complicit as I watched football this past weekend. I’ve seen the science regarding concussions and CTE. The link is real. Yet, I didn’t turn away.
We carry a constant stream of intent. The majority of this intent is not communicated through our actions. With each act we send signals to the world; some of them positive, some of them negative.
Worrying works; 90% of the things I worry about never happen.
