I don’t like arrogance. I don’t like it when I see it, I don’t like it when I do it. Instead, I value humility and try to stay humble. Ed Bastian, the CEO of Delta Airlines had a great thought on the John Maxwell Leadership Podcast. He conveyed a story about his marketing department approaching him about changing their slogan from “Keep Climbing” to something that was bold and announced their arrival as the biggest or took credit for being the best. He declined saying that keep climbing is not a destination, that the slogan was about soaring to new heights, and that they can do better. We all can.
I love it. At Sprague, our vision statement is to passionately deliver uncompromising service. There is no destination in this. Keep our head down, work hard, acknowledge that we all have something to learn, never settle.
